CellTech Power develops Liquid Tin Solid Oxide fuel cells at their headquarters in Westborough, MA.
Founded in 1998, the company has demonstrated kilowatt-class fuel cell systems based on CellTech’s proprietary Liquid Tin Anode technology. CellTech Power is currently leveraging a government contract for continuous development of liquid anode fuel cell systems for power generation, including portable power.

CellTech Power offers competitive salaries, 401k and Health Insurance.

Position:      Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:                  Westborough, MA

Company Description:

CellTech Power has developed a unique fuel cell which simply and efficiently converts common fuels such as diesel, coal and biomass into electrical power. CellTech is working with the US military and several contractors to develop small generators with multiple near-term military and commercial applications.  Our technology is highly scalable and CellTech’s long term market is the production of clean, low cost electrical power from biomass and coal at efficiencies higher than any other available technology.

Job Brief:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing engineering design and fabrication support to multiple development programs for the Liquid Tin Anode Solid Oxide Fuel Cell. Responsible for system layout, detail part design, component specification and fabrication. Creativity, flexibility and the ability to work on multiple programs is highly desirable.  Local travel required.

Duties:

1.    Develop and document system packaging designs for small power systems using the Liquid Tin Anode SOFC.

2.    Support the development of system concepts and select components for air/fuel distribution, thermal management and electrical distribution.

3.    Create cell/stack/system assembly drawings and assembly methodologies to support prototype fabrication and testing.

4.    Responsible for prototyping of simple components using in-house machine shop. Identify and utilize outside vendors for more complex parts.

5.    Participate in the development and fabrication of manufacturing tools and equipment for cell and stack assembly.

6.    Must be a good oral and written communicator.  Will be required to provide written records of technical work including design reports and assembly proceedures.

7.    Ability to act independently while working as an integral part of a small, fast-paced development team, playing multiple roles.

8.    Performs other work related duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications:

BSME or Engineering Tech degree with 1-3 years industrial experience. Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD programs is required. Preferred experience includes: mechanical and ceramic part design, high temperature materials, machine shop, CNC and prototype assembly.   US citizenship or green card required.

Position:      Research Scientist

Location:     Westborough, MA

Company Description:

CellTech Power LLC www.celltechpower.com is the exclusive developer of the Liquid Tin Anode Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (LTA-SOFC). Our technology replaces the nickel-based anode common to SOFC designs, allowing our fuel cell to operate directly on common fuels such as diesel, JP-8, biomass and coal.  CellTech is the only company to successfully demonstrate a fuel cell operating on JP-8, the primary fuel used by the US military. Our markets include mobile power and stationary power generation.

Job Brief:

The Research Scientist will conduct scientific research in direct fuel conversion and in fuel cell materials in support of LTA-SOFC development programs funded by DOE, DOD, NSF and commercial partners. Will be directly responsible for program planning, carrying out experimental activities, testing, analysis and reporting.

Essential Functions:

1.        Plan and carry out research/study of high temperature reactions among various fuels and fuel cell components.  Fuels of interest include coal, biomass and hydrocarbons.

2.        Develop and implement lab test set-ups to support materials evaluation.

3.        Evaluate test results including chemical and physical analysis of reaction products.

4.        Responsible for managing test data base including tracking trends, data mining, and data quality assurance.

5.        Provide written records of technical work including test reports and monthly status reports suitable for submittal to government and commercial sponsors.

6.        Assist in development of proposals for new and follow-on work.

7.        Ability to act independently while working as an integral part of a small, fast-paced development team, playing multiple roles.

Experience and Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Physical Sciences. Familiarity with material characterization and analytical techniques. Laboratory experience with biomass, coal, metallurgy, ceramics and fuel cells is a plus. Familiarity with software such as LabView operation and database organization.   Experience with government funded program reporting and project management is a plus.  US citizen or Permanent Resident required.
